Vienna Flexi Pass
What’s the Vienna Flexi Pass?
The Vienna Flexi Pass is a sightseeing pass for the city of Vienna. With the Flexi Pass you can choose 3, 4 or 5 free offers from a list of 34 attractions. This means that you decide which sights you are most interested in and pay only for these. This is why the Pass is so flexible – the flexibility is already in the name.
The most important attractions include, for example, a 24-hour ticket for the Vienna Sightseeing Hop-on-Hop-off buses, a boat trip on the Danube Canal and admission to the Schönbrunn Zoo. The Flexi Pass also includes admission to many museums.
If you choose your favourite attractions cleverly, you can save money with the Vienna Flexi Pass compared to tickets bought separately. You will also save time, as the pass gives you priority admission to some locations. The Flexi Pass is valid for a full 30 days after activation.
In addition to the physical card, you will receive a small handbook containing important information about the Flexi Pass attractions. In this handbook you will also find a discount code that gives you a 15% discount on the tours offered by Vienna Sightseeing.

Our Assessment of the Included Attractions
The Vienna Flexi Pass includes a majority of the most important sights of Vienna. Only two top attractions are missing: Schönbrunn Palace and the Vienna Hofburg. If you are interested, you will have to buy single tickets.
The Hop-on Hop-off bus is the most expensive single service of the Vienna Flexi Pass. This tourist bus is well suited to explore the city in a relaxed manner. If you would like to take this bus, the Flexi Pass will likely pay off. However, Hop-on Hop-off buses do not get you from place to place quickly. If you have little time, public transport is more practical.
Some of the attractions included in the Flexi Pass allow fast track admission. This means that you don’t have to queue at the ticket office with the pass, but can walk past the queue. However, this does not apply to all attractions. For all locations without “Fast Track” you have to show your pass at the cash desk and will be given a free ticket.
Validity of the Vienna Flexi Pass
The Vienna Flexi Pass is the longest valid city pass for the city of Vienna. With this pass you are guaranteed not to run out of time.
If you use the Flexi Pass at the first attraction, it will be activated. From that point on it is valid for 30 consecutive calendar days.
Attention: You are obliged to enter the first day of use on the back of the pass. Only then is the pass valid.
Is the Vienna Flexi Pass Worth it?
In order for the Vienna Flexi Pass to be worthwhile, you have to choose the attractions you want. You will only save money if you visit the sights that are expensive to buy individually. How expensive they must be depends on which version of the Flexi Pass you choose.
To calculate the price advantage of the Flexi Pass, it helps to calculate the price per attraction:
- 3-Attractions-Pass: €49 = €16.33 per attraction
- 4-Attractions-Pass: €59 = €14.75 per attraction
- 5-Attractions-Pass: €69 = €13.80 per attraction
With the 3-Attraction-Pass, all attractions should cost more than €16.33 in single purchase, so that you save money with the pass. With the 5-Attraction-Pass everything up to €13.80 is possible. The choice is a little bigger.
The Flexi Pass is most profitable if you choose the most expensive attractions. These are for example:
- Hop-on Hop-off bus: €26.10
- Boat trip with the MS Blue Danube: €24
- Zoo Schönbrunn: €22
- Upper Belvedere: €16
- Albertina: €16.90
For these five offers you would have to pay €115 together. The Flexi Pass for 5 attractions is only €69. Thus you’ll save €46!
The Flexi Pass is only really worthwhile if you are interested in the Hop-on Hop-off buses and/or want to take a boat trip on the Danube Canal, because these two services are the most expensive. Vienna Sightseeing can offer attractive conditions for these offers with the Flexi Pass, as they operate the buses and boats themselves.
When Isn’t the Flexi Pass Worth it?
For some sights the Flexi Pass is not worthwhile. If you do not visit attractions worth at least €49 with the 3-Attractions Pass, you will lose money with the Pass.
Unfortunately, there are several attractions included in the pass, which only cost €5 or €6 when purchased individually. It does not make sense to use the pass for visiting these cheap attractions. If you are not interested in the most expensive services, the Flexi Pass may not be worth it. In this case, it is better to buy individual tickets.
